Matt proudly counsels sponsors of multiemployer and single-employer benefit plans on all matters of the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and other laws impacting employee benefit plans, as well as advising on nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements.
Matt previously worked at another labor side labor and employee benefits law firm in the Philadelphia area where he represented multiemployer benefit funds in federal litigation, as well as working in-house as associate fund counsel at the second largest multiemployer defined benefit pension fund, in terms of assets, in the United States. Additionally, he worked as a senior associate for a global risk management, insurance and advisory firm providing compliance support to sponsors of health and welfare benefit funds. By having a variety of experiences in numerous aspects of employee benefits, Matt tackles his client’s needs in a holistic and strategic manner and provides his fund clients with a comprehensive approach to all aspects of plan design, qualification, operation and administration.
Matt graduated cum laude from the Ohio University Honors Tutorial College in 2010, cum laude from Drexel University Thomas R. Kline School of Law in 2014, and obtained a Master of Laws in Taxation, with distinction, in 2021 from the Georgetown University Law Center. He was a contributing author to the seminal ABA/Bloomberg Law Treatise, Employee Benefits Law, 2021 Update. Additionally, he was a former recipient of the Peggy Browning Fellowship for Workers’ Rights, and previously clerked or externed at AFSCME, the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, and the United State Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
