The NLRA at 80: Is the Statute Adapting to the New Workplace?

Blitman & King will be presenting at an important event sponsored by Region Three of the National Labor Relations Board, Cornell University, and the New York State Bar Association.  The title of the program is “The NLRA at 80: Is the Statute Adapting to the New Workplace?”  In 1935, when the Act was passed, no one could have predicted the internet, social media, globalization, the use of independent contractors, and the service economy.  Is the Act and the Board up to the challenge of the new economy?  The speakers will look at the General Counsel’s agenda, the Board’s most recent decisions, and the new election procedures.  In addition to Blitman & King, program speakers will include NLRB Chairman Mark Pearce, NLRB Members Kent Hirozawa, Lauren McFerran, and Philip Miscimarra, and NLRB General Counsel Richard Griffin, among other prominent labor law practitioners.  The event will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Center for Tomorrow at SUNY Buffalo in Buffalo, New York.  The Program Agenda can be viewed here.
